Apparently Logan Gray to start…updated sort of

Word on the street is that Logan toook all the snaps with the #1 offense yesterday and will start on Saturday. In this case the street is ugasports.com. Of course he was told he’d start last Saturday because of Cox’ illness but we’ll see. As to why Cox won’t go, it’s hard to say, rumors have swirled for a month or more about him having a dead arm and it’s possible he injured it further in the game. His arm certainly didn’t look like what it has in his other opportunities. I’m sure this is tough for Cox to handle given his 5th year status and after waiting behind Stafford all that time. I hate it for him. We’ll find out now how well Logan can play. He’s got the talent for sure but I’m thinking we probably see a pretty conservative approach. This likely means Aaron Murray’s redshirt is gone, which also stinks, but there’s not way we can have a walk-on as our primary backup. I’m guessing Richt would have preferred this staying under wraps but it’s all over the place now. Good luck Logan.
Edit: Who knows, now we’ve got statements from UGA saying that Cox is starting for sure. I’m guessing the plan wasn’t for this to become public knowledge but it certainly appears that Cox will start and Gray will see significantly more time than his 1 snap in Stillwater. So much drama. Harkens back to the early years of Greene’s tenure when we wondered how much DJ was going to play.

Not a criticism or gripe . . . but Quincy’s meltdown was in Columbia. Well, the particular meltdown you’re talking about anyway. I remember well because I was there, and walking into the stadium, I was amazed that such a hopeless team (coming off a 20+ game losing streak) could have such an intense fanbase. The place was packed, and they were loud as hell. Poor folks, just setting themselves up for a huge letdown. Fast forward to walking out of the stadium and down the street back to the car . . . I had to watch the goalposts go right by. Needless to say, it wasn’t the best afternoon I’ve ever spent at a football game.
Like I said, fairly trivial in the grand scheme, but it brought back a lot of (painful) memories.
Love reading your articles. Keep up the good work.
Crap…that was a brain-fart for sure. I vividly remember that game too. I was in Athens that day, not Quincy. Ugh. That one hurt BAD. They missed the start of the game because the early game ran over. I missed Millican’s TD run but got to see all of Quincy’s mishaps. Bad day all around. Good catch though.
I was at that game also. My one and only trip to Columbia. That God awful Cock piercing over the speakers is enough to make anyone go mad. Word over the years is that the line for that particular game was pulled in Vegas right before kickoff. It is hard to imagine any instance of how Quincy did not throw that game. I also blame Donnan for not taking him out after his 4th interception and especially after the 5th. Sometimes it is just not your day. See you in the stands on Sat.
